Migration from SmugMug to Picasa Web Albums

April 23, 2010 6:51 pm

Well, after a year, I decided to cancel my SmugMug account.  I found it kind of slow and difficult to get stuff uploaded, although it was aesthetically pleasing.  I have been using Picasa as my go-to photo viewer.  I have to say that it makes it REALLY easy to upload my pics and do NEF to JPG conversions on the fly to the complimentary online album service of the same name.  Plus, it only costs $5 a year for 20GB storage.  Not to mention all the cool facial recognition stuff it does.  The only downfall i see with Picasa is the lack of nested folders or albums.  If that proves to be an issue, I will revert back to my own implementation of the open source app, Gallery2

My Review of Steelcase Leap

August 31, 2009 8:09 pm

This chair is ultra customizable, comfortable and you can sit for hours on end and not feel any fatigue.  I had been using a rigid tilt chair for years and it was starting to do damage.  After weeks of research, and trying a few different chairs, I decided on the LEAP.  It has great reviews and it’s obvious why.  While it costs more than I originally budgeted, its an investment that will pay dividends on my back for many years to come.  Don’t wait, just do it.  If you have the ability to drop a few more $$$ than planned its well worth it.

The Adam Savage You May Not Know

December 20, 2008 11:48 am

I happen to be a big fan of the tv show, Mythbusters.  You will see hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman trying to prove out, though experimentation, popular myths.

In my daily review of DIGG, I came across this interesting presentation from one of the show hosts, Adam Savage.  It shows you interesting side of his personality that you may not find by watching him on his show.  Weighing in at 17 minutes, its a bit long but very compelling to watch.

Black Friday Stampede Death

November 28, 2008 11:13 am

We need to get our priorities in order. This is an abomination:

A worker died after being trampled and a woman miscarried when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island Wal-Mart Friday morning, witnesses said.

The unidentified worker, employed as an overnight stock clerk, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.
